Kevin brings more than 20 years of overall IT Security and compliance experience and over 10 years of cybersecurity, governance and critical infrastructure experience working in the energy, medical, manufacturing, transportation and FedRAMP realms, (to name just a few). Kevin is also a member of the FBI InfraGard program and have started security training programs at the local college level for up and coming students in the IT and IT Security fields.
Joshua Markham | Sr. Manager, IoT Emerging Technologies | Verizon
Joshua Markham has been a technical consultant for several industries spanning Manufacturing, Retail/Hospitality, Healthcare and Fortune energy companies for two decades. His technical designs have spanned the Industrial Internet of Things, Security, Workflow Automation as well as SCADA and AMI merging hardware, software, networking and cloud technologies.
Joshua’s MBA and time in Finance at Verizon have enabled him to help customers build new business cases for non-traditional machines such connected trash cans/compactors, connected artificial lifts, SCADA, AMI, Pipeline and well head monitoring. He has also consulted with major automobile manufactures for security around the connected car and Oil and Gas companies to encrypt radio communications to disrupt pirating efforts off of Africa.
Currently, Joshua leads the Emerging Technology Consultants and IoT Developer Relations team for Verizon Wireless for the US. The Emerging Technologies team is focused on Mobile Edge Compute, Private 5G, Automation, IoT API Integrations and other near/new to market technologies.
Hala Ballouz | President & CEO | Electric Power Engineers LLC
Hala N. Ballouz is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Electric Power Engineers, a power engineering consulting firm, and ENER-i. AI, a firm focused on innovation in software + consulting for modernizing the digitization of electric utility grids. She is an international advisor on the integration of renewables and smart grid development, was the founder of GridNEXT, and while President of the Texas Renewables Energy Association (TREIA), established the first of a kind series of conferences focusing on grid modernization to further the integration of renewables. Ballouz is a recognized leader in power systems as well as in empowering women in the energy industry—she was the recipient of the 2020 Woman in Power Award. She is a registered Professional
Cynthia Baughman is a strategic technology leader with over 34 years’ experience working in all aspects of IT. She has worked for the City of Garland, TX, for over 24 years, previously serving as the IT Network Services Manager, as an IT Business Relationship Manager, and as the Public Works Operations Technology Manager. She currently serves as the Water Utilities Technology Director, overseeing all of the utility’s technical initiatives, including asset management, GIS, SCADA, and cybersecurity, as well as the Water Operations call center.
She joined the Water Utilities division in 2014 to lead the cultural change that went with the implementation of their asset management system. She also serves as the Logistics Section Chief in the City’s Emergency Operations Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science from San Jose State University in Business – Information Systems, and several certifications, including NIMS, Business Continuity Planning, Project Management, and Business Relationship Management. As a member of Women in Technology, Women in Cybersecurity, and the Alliance of Technology and Women, she helps to promote STEM careers to children and teens. She speaks on a variety of topics including project management, asset management, crisis communications, and cybersecurity.
